So I'm in Austin shacking up in a friend-of-a-friend's spare bedroom (THANK YOU!!), and my boss tells me this afternoon that the CEO has decided to forgo a conference in Atlanta so he can focus on cleaning up HQ, and would I like to take his place at the conference.
OMG, really?!? YES!!
So I frantically run around for two hours buying business attire (left mine in The Woodlands), booked a flight, threw everything in a bag in a minute or less, and headed for the airport. I borrowed my boss' duffle...which is apparently an expensive camping/skiing bag.
I am therefore dumb.
My luggage didn't show up. From a direct flight. With a few hundred bucks' worth in brand new clothes/shoes stuffed in it, tags attached.
SON OF A...
May be shopping again in the morning, but hope that the world is good as it should be and my bag shows up at the hotel by the time I wake up.
Everyone: Any suggestions on food/shopping in Atlanta? I've never been. Shoot me ideas, I want to make best of my time.

Where are you staying? Lennox Square Mall (http://www.simon.com/mall/default.aspx?ID=207) is in Buckhead and was great back in the day. I haven't been there in about five years, though, so I can't vouch for its current state.
There are a ton of great restaurants all over the metro area. When I was in Buckhead last October I went to a fabulous restaurant called The Palm (http://www.thepalm.com/sitemain.cfm?site_id=7). It's pretty expensive and I was absolutely thrilled when the five people I went with insisted on paying the bill.
Sounds like a trap!
Why didn't your boss go?!
OK, I'll back off with the big brother attitude.
Glad you're okay Kerri. I momentarily (for a few days) lost your blog address.. long story.. so now that it's back, I know what's up with you and Ike. Okay, we were just in Atlanta a month ago. Bones is an expensive, but great steakhouse. The Varsity is America's oldest drive in (not theater, but food place) at 80 years old and it's fun and yummy... a couple of suggestions. let us know how things are when you get back to houston. I hope you find your luggage.. Airlines and luggage are truely a HUGE PAIN.
