Lack of direction

I wish I had pictures of all the wrong turns I take. The best one was in downtown Houston, with my new boss in the car. She and I are about the same age, with much the same background. She invited me to come downtown to go out for drinks and check out the area where all the single people live.

So she's in the front seat with her laptop, diligently trying to look something up and giving me driving directions out of her neighborhood at the same time. I'm at a stop sign, she says "go left," I start to go left, and the car behind me honks. I'm like "what?!"...keep driving...this is when I wish I had the camera.

We were driving the wrong way down a one way, and now had three lanes of traffic coming straight at us!

I dove out of the way into a parking lot, we had a good laugh. She jokes she's done just about the same with the CEO in the car, so get used to it.

I've gone downtown a couple of times now, but for short periods each. It's about 40 minutes on the interstate, quite a few of the single people choose to live there because The Woodlands is soooo family-oriented. I don't care for the commute, though, so I'll keep looking to figure out where I want to buy my next place. I'm still thinking about a house in Austin for the weekends, this tiny apartment here for during the week. But Austin is far more expensive, so I'd have to have a bigger paycheck to handle both. I better work on a promotion!!
